ḤADĪTH OF THE DAY

“ The Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him, said, “The best dīnār (1) is a dīnār a man spends on his dependents; and a dīnār a man spends on his pack animal for God's sake; and a dīnār a man spends on his companions for God's sake.” Abū Qilābah (one of the narrators of the ḥadīth) mentioned that the Messenger of God, peace and blessings of God be upon him, began with the dependents. He then said, “Who else could earn a greater reward than a man spending on his minor dependents? For through his spending, God restrains them (from the unlawful) and suffices them.” Footnote: (1) A dīnār is a gold coin which was used as currency in the time of the Messenger of God, peace and blessings of God be upon him. ”

Sunan at-Tirmithiy

The Messenger of God, peace and blessings of God be upon him, said, "The Black Stone [1] descended from Paradise whiter than milk; the sins of the children of Adam then blackened it." Footnotes: [1] One of the stones comprising the southern corner of the Ka'bah. It marks the point at which people should start and end their circumambulation of the Ka'bah. It is of a special value to Muslims, as it is believed to have fallen from Heaven in the time of Adam and Eve. Click on ḥadīth to read more
